Unit8 Birthdays

教学目标

(一)语言能力

1.学生能听懂、会读、会说eleventh, eighth, April, 初步了解日期构成方式,能使用句型:When’s your birthday? It’s on ... What do you usually do on your birthday? I ... 来询问他人的生日以及在过生日时做的事情。

2.学生在课上通过阅读自编绘本Happy Birthday》拓展生日活动的相关词汇:shiny, get...from...,blow out...并在对话练习中运用

(二)文化意识

1.通过书本故事的学习和绘本故事的拓展,让学生初步了解中西方关于生日文化的不同

2.让学生在课堂活动中体会课文人物和绘本人物在过生日时的丰富情感,感受到朋友间和亲人间的关爱,能够学会关心家人朋友,培养其为他人着想的意识。

(三)思维品质

1.能运用观察、预测、讨论等方式回答问题并参加表演。

2.能根据板书理解文本和绘本故事,训练思维能力。

1.通过听、说、读、演等方式,充分理解书本内容

Step 1. Pre-reading

1. Brain storm.

T: Hello, boys and girls. I’m your new English teacher today. I have a present for you. What’s this?

T: Yes. Can you say something about birthdays?

T: Wow, you know so many things about birthdays. Today we’ll learn more about birthdays. Let’s read the title: Unit8 Birthdays. (板贴课题)

Step 2. While-reading

Talk and learn

T: Whose birthdays will we talk about? Look! (PPT展示人物头像)

T: Who’s this girl? Listen! Yes. She’s Lily. (板贴头像)

Listen and match 

T: When are their birthdays?Please take out your worksheet.Let’s listen and match.Let’s check the answer.

 

T: When is Lily’s birthday?

What about Su Hai?  

How about SuYang? Why?

Step 3. Consolidation

1. Compare and say

T: Look at the three birthdays, are they the same? Why? What’s the difference?

T: Chinese people usually eat noodles. Western people eat cakes. Why?

(PPT: 谐音“长寿”It means we can have a long life. Birthday cake brings good luck and drive away the demon. 画一碗面和一个蛋糕美化板书)

T: Nowadays, both Chinese people and western people have birthday parties and eat birthday cakes on their birthdays to celebrate their birthdays.

T: Which birthday do you like best? Why?

Practise and say

T: When is your birthday? What do you usually do on your birthday?

T: I like your birthdays. They’re meaningful and sweet. After your birthdays, you can make a picture book about your birthday. Just like Lily.

教师的亲切自我介绍自然拉近了与学生的距离。在教师的引导下,学生birthday展开头脑风暴,不仅可以活跃课堂氛围,同时也能有效激发学生的学习兴趣。同时也是本节课的主题,为接下来的学习做巧妙的铺垫。

 

开门见山,通过听录音引导学生迅速认识新朋友Lily,解决了Whose的问题,让学生了解本课的学习任务就是这三个人物的生日。

    听音连线的设计,解决了When的问题。不仅让学生记住了三个人物的生日日期,同时也让学生对日期的正确表述有了初步理解此处the eleventh和the eighth的发音是个难点,需要重点强调。学生通过观察三个日期的构成,能自然而然构建出日期的正确表达结构。

 

 

通过让学生观察图片,观看视频,细读文本,帮助学生循序渐进找到了Su Hai在生日时的活动。同时,学生掌握了更好的阅读策略,通过小组合作,共同绘制Mike生日的思维导图。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

学生通过上述活动不仅能体会书本人物生日的快乐时光,同时在朗读和表演环节中进一步演绎出人物的快乐情感。

    

 

 

自编绘本《Happy Birthday》的融入契合了本课的生日主题,是对文本的有效拓展和补充。不仅让学生了解和掌握更多的生日活动,如make a card/cake, get...from..., put... on... blow out,  sing and dance,还加入了更多生日文化知识,如一口气吹灭所有蜡烛才能实现所有的生日愿望,过生日的时候也可以为自己的妈妈做贺卡当作谢礼等。

学生在学习自编绘本的过程中,能自然而然地将书本的知识迁移到绘本的学习中,加深对生日的理解和体验。

 

通过对三个生日进行对比,学生能迅速发现中西生日文化上的差异,同时进行相关知识的补充,加深其记忆帮助其理解。

 

 

 

最后环节是让学生根据自己的实际情况和同桌合作来创编关于各自生日的对话,不仅可以检测学生对本节课知识的掌握程度,更是以学生为中心,充分锻炼了学生的英语语言综合运用能力。同时,也可以用来作为课后绘本作业的素材。
